Next Steps
Our students benefit from a wealth of information, advice and guidance on careers and progression routes throughout their Sixth Form experience. We recognise that these important decisions about the future cannot and should not be taken lightly, so we strive to ensure that our students have regular access to individual and meaningful support.
This support begins from the first session during the Year 12 Induction. Here, students are introduced to a bespoke software package, designed to both inform and track their progression journey, whether that is focussed on Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment. This support continues during weekly group Tutorials and opportunities for one-to-one interviews with a designated member of the Sixth Form team, who serves as a personal Progression Advisor throughout both Years 12 and 13.

The student experience is also enhanced by four ‘Employability Days’ throughout Year 12 which are off-timetable and dedicated to developing students’ career and progression plans. These exciting and dynamic days include small, tailored workshops delivered by a wealth of professionals, as well as opportunities to hear from inspirational speakers, Rainford Sixth Form alumni and in house sessions focusing on university and apprenticeship applications.
As a result of this intensive support and guidance, our progression rates are excellent, with 100% of students successfully moving on to their chosen destination. As well as a growing number of successful applicants for competitive and highly sought after higher level apprenticeships, 2017 also saw 25% of our Year 13 students accepting offers from Russell Group universities. Our students leave Rainford Sixth Form with more than great exam results; they leave with a focus and purpose that generates success and happiness in their adult lives.
