My summer working for Freestart Plc has come to an end, but I can look back with fondness at a period that has presented me with a valuable experience.
For seventeen students and four volunteers it was an early start on Thursday morning, meeting at College for our Gold Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition…
An academic adventure on the Rainford minibus began on Wednesday 1st July as fifteen of the college’s brightest students set off for the prestigious universities of Oxford and Cambridge, a journey with the potential to change their lives.
At first, I really struggled to get a work experience placement, particularly as I want to study Law at university and eventually go into the law profession but placements in law are so difficult to get and I began to worry.
Throughout the fortnight we built several libraries within various schools of Kumasi, with the hope that the children who attended could receive the best education possible and would in-turn be able to better themselves for later life.
Confused, frustrated and panicked. These are just some of the emotions you feel when your experience of Year 12 is coming to an end and suddenly, you have to make vital decisions about your future career and pathway that you will take to get there.
